The marketing exhibition with the theme M.A.N.T.R.A.- Market Awareness, Newest Tactics, Research & Analysis was organized on a regional level with participation of fifteen regional management institutes & twelve companies from different sectors- L.I.C., S.B.I., ICICI Prudential, Honda, Hyundai, Maruti, Sony, Khadi Gramudyog, Tanishq, Tata Motors, Acer & Eureka Forbes. The participants showcased their latest products, policies & schemes through:
- Physical display of products.
- Posters, Banners, Videos and other publicity materials.
The USP of the event was that it provided a common platform-
- For students to gain exposure to the marketing strategies adopted by various organizations through guest lectures, interactive sessions with representatives of participating companies, ont he spot surveys and case analyses;
- For the participating companies to promote themselves in the region.
The students engaged in marketing and promotional activities on behalf of the participating companies. Besides Managerial paper presentations, Ad-making, Brand recall, Business quiz at Inter-college level were also held to stimulate Idea generation, Sharing & Personality development.
The event took festive colors as the representatives of the companies, management students from different institutes, the faculty members & the organisers enthusiasticlly participated in the various informal events, which keep the people abound, both, mentally and physically. These activities checked the basic aptitude, logical reasoning & on the spot judgement of participants.
The international techno-cultural fest was an amalgamation of art culture and talent of hundred of students across the nation. The highlights of the fest included managerial events, technical events, cultural events, informal events, literary events and mega events.
Management quizes, managerial paper presentation, future CEO and informalz were most popular events among the students.
Workshop on Natural Disaster Management
A 4-days Workshop on ‘Natural Disaster Management’ was organized by the Department of Business Administration, NITK in collaboration with the Institute for Sustainable Development and Research , India (ISDR), International Council on Groundwater – Seawater Interactions (CGSI), and Muktainagar Taluka Education Society (MTES). Along with the scientists from these International organizations, a scientist from Switzerland – Ms Annette Paula Kimmich, Executive Secretary of CGSI and Manager, Open University, Geology Society, Switerzerland, joined a brain storming session with the scientific working group of NITK comprising Dr. R C Bhattacharjee, Dr. V K Sehgal, Dr. N K Gupta, Dr. V P Wani and Dr. P J Philip who have been actively involved with the research pertaining to Natural Disaster Management. A team comprising experts from the three agencies and the Institute went for a field visit for two days to landslide-prone areas of Himachal Pradesh. On the last day, the visiting scientists addressed and interacted with a gathering of the faculty and the students of the Institute.The workshop was efficiently managed by the staff and students of the Department of Business Administration.
Conference on Impacts of Himalayan Tectonics on Society
A 3-days Conference on ‘Impacts of Himalayan Tectonics on Society’ was organized by the Department. This program was organized in association with Institute of Sustainable Development and Research, (ISDR) India , Muktainagar Taluka Education Society , (MTES) India , , Open University Geology Society , Mainland Europe (OUGS-ME), Switzerland .Participants included foreign delegates from United Kingdom, France, Switzerland and Cyprus. In addition to deliberations in the Senate Hall of the NITK, Campus, the delegates were taken for a field visit to the foothills of Himalayas.
The conference provided a unique opportunity to the faculty and students of the department to interact with and learn from a galaxy of international experts.
