Campus : Kurukshetra, steeped in history and mythology, is a place of great spiritual significance, where Lord Krishna, delivered the divine message of “Shrimad Bhagwad Gita”. The place from where knowledge spread far and wide was chosen as his capital by King Harshwardhana. It is one of the premier centres of pilgrimage attracting devotees in a steady stream all-round the year. Kurukshetra is a railway junction on the Delhi-Karnal-Ambala section of the Northern Railway. It is about 160 kms. from Delhi. The Institute campus is about 10 kms. from Pipli, a well known road junction on the Sher Shah Suri Marg and about 5 km from Kurukshetra Railway Station.
NIT Kurukshetra Campus: The Campus extends over an area of 300 acres imaginatively laid down on a picturesque landscape. It presents a spectacle of harmony in architecture and natural beauty. The campus has been organized into three functional sectors : Hostels for the students, Instructional buildings and Residential sector for the staff.
Hostels for students are located towards Eastern side of the campus in the form of cluster. Three storey buildings of hostels provide comfortable accommodation and pleasing environment to students.
National Institute of Technology Kurukshetra (NITK) enjoys the reputation of being a centre of excellence, facilitating quality technical and management education, research and training. It has been conferred the status of being an Institution of National Importance.
The Institute figures among the top ranked engineering institutions in the country with high scores on all the parameters such as Placement, Intellectual Capital, Infrastructure, Industry Interface and Recruiter’s Perception. Established in the year 1963, NITK has made rapid strides toward excellence. A sprawling lush green campus, outstanding infrastructure, state-of-the-art support system, contemporary curriculum and a dedicated faculty provide an enabling environment for quality teaching, learning and research. The Institute recognizes the significance of Institute-Industry Interface and promotes interaction with the industry through student placements, consultancy services, joint research projects and jointly organizing workshops, seminars, conferences, etc. Further, strengthening of this bond with the industry is currently a matter of priority for the Institute.
Presently, NIT Kurukshetra offers UG (B.Tech.) programs in (i) Civil (ii) Computer Science (iii) Electrical (iv) Electronics & Communication (v) Mechanical (vi) Information Technology (vii) Production & Industrial Engg. (viii) Industrial Internet of Things (ix) Mathematics & Computing (x) Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (xi) Microelectronics & VLSI Engg. (xii) Artificial Intelligence & Data Science (xiii) Sustainable Energy Technologies (xiv) Robotics & Automation and (xv) Bachelor of Architecture as well as PG (M.Tech.) programs in Civil, CSE, Electrical, ECE, Mechanical and VLSI Design, M.Sc. in Physics, Chemistry, Maths. & Economics, MBA- Marketing, Finance, Human Resource Management and MCA along with programs in Engineering, Technology, Applied Sciences, and Humanities & Social Sciences at doctorate level. The Institute also offers excellent facilities for advanced research in the emerging areas of science and technology. The scheme and syllabus of all UG and PG programmes have been revised in view of NEP-2020.
Infrastructure:The infrastructure is also geared up to enable the Institute develop technical personnel of high quality. There are a number of projects that are being carried out by the Institute sponsored by DST, MHRD, CSIR, AICTE and UGC.
Library Facility
Library Facility
The library is housed in a separate building with a covered area of 3600 sq. m. With its ample resources, space and services, the library caters to the needs of faculty, research scholars and students very effectively and efficiently. To keep them abreast of the latest developments in research, it now subscribes to electronic resources through the ONOS consortium set up by the MHRD. As on 31.03.2025 (end of last Financial Year), the central library contains 177366 books, 7097 back volumes and 12272 e-books. The library subscribes to 45 print journals and approximately 13000+ online journals in the fields of science, management and technology. The library remains accessible to its users 24 x 7.

Computing Facilities
The Centre of Computing and Networking was established in 1997 as a project funded by MHRD. It is a central facility for the institute, connecting all the buildings, departments, hostels, and residential areas through the Local Area Network (LAN). The Centre aims to integrate networking and computing facilities for service to the students, scholars, faculty and community with an effort to automate institute offices and sections. The CCN maintains Campus Wide Network with more than 7000 nodes with state-of-the-art networking, infrastructure. It also hosts institute website.
Centre of Computing and Networking (CCN) is the central computing and networking facility of the Institute, entrusted with the following responsibilities:
- Development of the computing and networking infrastructure
- Maintaining and updating the Institute’s website
- E-mail services for the students, faculty and staff
- Extending IT infrastructure for online tests for placement of the students
- Development and operation of online applications
- CCN has equipped with Super computer Param Shavak from CDAC. The students and faculty are utilizing this facility for high end computing.
- Working Hours: 9:00 AM to 12:00 Mid Night. CCN remains closed National holidays.

Senate Hall
NITK has a state-of-the art Senate Hall. It is an aesthetically designed and conveniently located conference-cum-canteen facility. The senate hall makes the institute well-equipped to hold conferences, seminars, workshops, etc. All the lectures of guest faculty and corporate managers are arranged here.


Jubilee Hall
Jubilee Hall has a seating capacity of 450 and is fully equipped with audio-visual facilities. It serves as the venue for numerous significant events, including inaugural and valedictory ceremonies. With its aesthetic design, the hall adds elegance and charm to every occasion held within its walls.


Sports Complex
Our Institute lays adequate emphasis on student participation in various outdoor and indoor games and one standard 400 mtr. Track and Field Sports. Extensive and well laid out fields for sports and games are available in the campus. Swimming Pool, Badminton Courts, Tennis Courts, Cricket Pitch, Hockey Ground, Football Ground, Volleyball Court and Basketball Court with lights facility, Kabaddi Ground and a Stadium etc. are some of the facilities available to the students. Prof. I/C (Physical Education & Sports) and Students Activity & Sports Officer (SASO) help the students to develop their interest in games and coach them to acceptable standards.
To keep the engineering students physically fit, the Physical Education and Sports is introduced as compulsory subject for engineering students in the New National Education Policy (NEP-2020), the government has emphasized Sports and Yoga. In line with this, our institute has also introduced Physical Education/Sports/Yoga as an integral part of the curriculum with 01 credit each in Sports and Yoga.

Open-Air Theatre
The Open-Air Theatre has a seating capacity of 4,000 and serves as the primary venue for major cultural events such as group dances, fashion shows, and choreographed performances. It is also used to host orientation programs for first-year students and convocation ceremonies for graduating students.

The N.I.T. market caters to nearly all the needs of students and staff. It features a variety of essential shops, including a grocery store, chemist, stationery shop, photo studio, and barber shop. In addition to these, the market also offers several eateries such as Domino’s, a fruit and juice corner, and a confectionery shop. On the first floor, there is a bank and a post office, providing convenient access to financial and postal services.
The Health Centre is staffed by one Senior Medical Officer, two Medical Officers, and a dentist. It includes a pharmacy that supplies most routine medications. The diagnostic laboratory is well-equipped with machines for various medical tests. Additionally, the Health Centre is affiliated with several major hospitals, offering free consultations to patients when specialized care is required.

The hostel facility is available for all outstation students. There are 10 boys’ hostels, 4 girls’ hostels, and one postgraduate (PG) hostel that accommodates the families of PhD students. Each hostel is equipped with both indoor and outdoor recreational facilities. Every hostel is managed by two wardens and dedicated staff.
The Siemens Centre of Excellence (SCOE) is committed to building capacity in design and manufacturing by leveraging cutting-edge, technology-driven solutions. The facility serves as a hub for solution-oriented engagements, catering to the needs of both industry and academia. Equipped with advanced infrastructure, the Centre is capable of executing real-time projects across industrial, service, and related sectors. In addition, it offers opportunities for consulting and research, supported by state-of-the-art hardware and software systems deployed at the facility.
The Institute looks toward the future with aims to develop eco-friendly, net-zero green buildings, international-standard hostels, hybrid classroom complexes, and state-of-the-art multimedia laboratories. Key infrastructure projects include a boys’ hostel with a capacity of 1,837 students and a G+5 ICT building. New multidisciplinary programs in cutting-edge technology domains such as Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, 6G Communications, Machine Learning, Robotics, and Renewable Energy Systems are being introduced. The Institute also intends to recruit more than 200 new highly qualified faculty members and expand the student population. To foster a culture of entrepreneurship, incubation centres will be established alongside Centres of Excellence focused on national priority areas such as AI, Machine Learning, Robotics, Drone Technology, and Defence Manufacturing. With realization of these goals, the Institute is assured of a place in the forefront of the elite Institutes of the country.
