Prof. BOMMAREDDY VENKATA RAMANA REDDY

He is currently serving as Director, National Institute of Technology Kurukshetra. The institute ranks in the top 100 of NIRF ranking. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in ECE in 1986, from Andhra University, Master of Engineering in ECE from IIT Roorkee, in 1991 and obtained PhD degree in ECE from Kurukshetra University, Haryana in 1998. He joined as faculty member at REC kurukshetra in the year 1991.  In his long career spanning over 35 years, he served in various capacities as Assistant professor in ECE dept., at National institutes of repute at NIT Kurukshetra (during 1991- 95), and as Associate professor in ECE dept., at NIT Hamirpur (1995-1999) known earlier as REC. He also served as Reader in ECE & as Professor in ECE & IT at University School of Information & Communication Technology (USICT), GGSIP University New Delhi during 1999-2022. He also served as Chairman and Director of NIT Uttarakhand for six months. Several reforming measures have been taken and transformed the institution truly becoming “Institute of National Importance”.

He possesses an excellent academic track record both as teacher and as a researcher besides administrative acumen in technology areas of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Earlier he served in various positions such as Coordinator Weekend programmes, Chairman University Centre for IT Management (UCIT&M), developing & managing the entire campus networking and ICT procurement of GGSIP University, Dean School of Engineering and Technology (USET), Dean of University School of Information and Communication Technology (USICT), Dean University School of Architecture and Planning (USAP), Chairman & Librarian for University Information Resource Centre (UIRC). He was also the Chairman, Centralized Career Guidance and Placement Cell (CCGPC) of GGSIP University and Program Coordinator GGSIPU NSS Cell and NCC Cell. He is a member of various boards of the university and served as member, chairman of BoS, Senate, BoG, FC and BWC.

His current research interests include Wireless communications which include mobile, Adhoc and sensor based networks, computer communication networks, Semiconductor and VLSI circuits and microwave & optical communications. He has more than 150 publications in International, National journals and International Conferences to his credit. He produced Eighteen (18) Ph.D.’s, and currently supervising three (3) PhD scholars and has three patents to his credit. He is a well-known teacher and mentor who has not only graduated a large number of students and developed well-appreciated teaching modules but has also motivated and mentored many student innovation and entrepreneurial activities which have achieved unique successes.  Prof. Reddy has pioneered in developing schemes and syllabus for 15 UG and PG programs for both campus and affiliated engineering colleges. He developed the first skill degree (B.VoC) scheme and syllabus for 10 different skill areas in polytechnics of Delhi, recently developed into Delhi Entrepreneurship & Skill University of Delhi (DESU), while contributing to National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF). He also promoted personnel and institute-level research collaboration with foreign universities and visited few countries in this regard. Over last 4 years’ transformational change is seen at NIT kurukshetra by addition of 8 UG, 5 integrated UG&PG, 4 MSc programmes.

Prof. Reddy worked as a reviewer of international journals including IEEE Letters, Adhoc Networks, Elsevier, Wireless Personal Communication, Springer, International Journal of Electronics, Taylor and Francis, IETE Journal of Research. He has organized many international conferences in the capacity of conference chair and co-chair and served as a member of program committee of several international conferences of repute in the area of wireless communication and networking.

Besides, he is a Fellow of IETE, IE, ISTE and a member of other professional bodies such as IEEE, CSI and SEMCEI. He is an active member in various committees constituted by AICTE, UGC, NAAC, TEQIP and NIC.

He is currently actively participating in educational reforms and value based education, in tune with National Skill Qualification Framework NSQF, NCrF, NHEQF and NVEQF and contributed to vocational education in the country. He strongly believes in holistic development and growth of the next generation children. Prof. Reddy has keen interest in skill development, examination reforms, student welfare, upliftment of standard of research and innovations in technical education.

His vision for NIT KKR: Implementing NEP 2020 in Toto at NIT Kurukshetra. To change the curriculum from outcome based education model into value based education model. Implement NEP-2020 for transformation in education.

प्रोफ़ेसर बोम्मारेड्डी वेंकट रमण रेड्डी वर्तमान में राष्ट्रीय प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थान कुरुक्षेत्र के निदेशक के रूप में कार्यरत हैं। यह संस्थान एनआईआरएफ रैंकिंग में शीर्ष 100 में शामिल है। प्रोफ़ेसर रेड्डी ने 1986 में आंध्र विश्वविद्यालय से स्नातक की डिग्री, 1991 में आईआईटी रुड़की से स्नातकोत्तर की डिग्री और 1998 में कुरुक्षेत्र विश्वविद्यालय, हरियाणा से  पीएचडी की डिग्री ‘इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स और संचार इंजीनियरिंग’ विषय में प्राप्त की। उन्होंने वर्ष 1991 में रीजनल इंजीनियरिंग कॉलेज (आरईसी) कुरुक्षेत्र में एक संकाय सदस्य के रूप में शामिल हुए। 35 वर्षों से अधिक के अपने लंबे करियर में, उन्होंने राष्ट्रीय महत्त्व के एक संस्थान, एनआईटी कुरुक्षेत्र (1991-95) में ‘इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स और संचार इंजीनियरिंग’ विभाग में सहायक प्रोफेसर के रूप में विभाग के विभिन्न दायित्वों का सफलतापूर्वक निर्वहन किया। उन्होंने वर्ष 1999 से 2022 तक गुरु गोबिंद सिंह इन्द्रप्रस्थ विश्वविद्यालय (जीजीएसआईपी), नई दिल्ली के ‘यूनिवर्सिटी स्कूल ऑफ इंफॉर्मेशन एंड कम्युनिकेशन टेक्नोलॉजी’ (यूएसआईसीटी) के ‘इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स और संचार इंजीनियरिंग (ईसीई) ‘ विभाग में रीडर और ‘ईसीई एवं आईटी’ में प्रोफेसर के रूप में भी कार्य किया। उन्होंने छह महीने की अवधि के लिए ‘एनआईटी उत्तराखंड’ के अध्यक्ष और निदेशक के रूप में भी कार्य किया। संस्थान को वास्तव में “राष्ट्रीय महत्व का संस्थान” बनाने के लिए उन्होंने कई सुधारात्मक कदम उठाए हैं।

सूचना एवं संचार प्रौद्योगिकी (आईसीटी) के क्षेत्र में मज़बूत प्रशासनिक कौशल के साथ-साथ, एक शिक्षक और शोधकर्ता दोनों के रूप में उनका अकादमिक रिकॉर्ड उत्कृष्ट रहा है। इससे पहले, उन्होंने समन्वयक:’सप्ताहांत कार्यक्रम’, अध्यक्ष: ‘विश्वविद्यालय आईटी प्रबंधन केंद्र (यूसीआईटीएंडएम)’, जीजीएसआईपी विश्वविद्यालय के संपूर्ण परिसर नेटवर्किंग और ‘आईसीटी’ खरीद के विकास और प्रबंधन, अधिष्ठाता (डीन) : ‘स्कूल ऑफ इंजीनियरिंग एंड टेक्नोलॉजी (यूएसईटी)’, अधिष्ठाता : ‘विश्वविद्यालय सूचना एवं संचार प्रौद्योगिकी स्कूल (यूएसआईसीटी)’, अधिष्ठाता : ‘विश्वविद्यालय वास्तुकला एवं योजना स्कूल (यूएसएपी)’, विश्वविद्यालय सूचना संसाधन केंद्र (यूआईआरसी) के अध्यक्ष और पुस्तकालयाध्यक्ष जैसे विभिन्न पदों पर कार्य किया है। वे जीजीएसआईपी विश्वविद्यालय के ‘केंद्रीकृत करियर मार्गदर्शन एवं प्लेसमेंट प्रकोष्ठ’ (सीसीजीपीसी) के अध्यक्ष और एनएसएस प्रकोष्ठ एवं एनसीसी प्रकोष्ठ के ‘कार्यक्रम समन्वयक’ भी रहे हैं। वे विभिन्न विश्वविद्यालयों के बोर्ड के सदस्य हैं और बोर्ड ऑफ गवर्नर्स, सीनेट, बोर्ड ऑफ गवर्नर्स, एफसी और बीडब्ल्यूसी के सदस्य और अध्यक्ष के रूप में कार्य कर चुके हैं।

उनकी वर्तमान शोध रुचियों में वायरलेस संचार शामिल हैं, जिसमें मोबाइल, एडहॉक और सेंसर-आधारित नेटवर्क, कंप्यूटर संचार नेटवर्क, सेमीकंडक्टर और वीएलएसआई सर्किट और माइक्रोवेव और ऑप्टिकल संचार शामिल हैं। उन्होंने अंतर्राष्ट्रीय, राष्ट्रीय पत्रिकाओं और अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सम्मेलनों में 150 से अधिक प्रकाशन किया हैं। उन्होंने अठारह (18) पीएचडी का सफलतापूर्वक निर्देशन किया, और वर्तमान में तीन (3) पीएचडी विद्वानों का निर्देशन कर रहे हैं और उनके नाम तीन पेटेंट भी हैं। वह एक प्रसिद्ध शिक्षक और संरक्षक हैं, जिन्होंने न केवल बड़ी संख्या में स्नातक छात्रों के लिये  प्रशंसित शिक्षण मॉड्यूल विकसित किए हैं । उन्होंने कई छात्रों को नवाचार और उद्यमशीलता गतिविधियों के लिए प्रेरित और सलाह भी दी है,  जिसमें उन्होंने अद्वितीय सफलताएं हासिल की हैं। प्रोफ़ेसर रेड्डी ने कैंपस और संबद्ध इंजीनियरिंग कॉलेजों दोनों के लिए 15 यूजी और पीजी कार्यक्रमों के लिए योजनाओं और पाठ्यक्रमों को विकसित करने में अग्रणी भूमिका निभाई है। उन्होंने दिल्ली के पॉलिटेक्निकों में 10 विभिन्न कौशल क्षेत्रों के लिए पहली कौशल डिग्री (बी.वीओसी) योजना और पाठ्यक्रम विकसित किया, जिसे हाल ही में दिल्ली उद्यमिता एवं कौशल विश्वविद्यालय (डीईएसयू) के रूप में विकसित किया गया, और साथ ही उन्होंने राष्ट्रीय कौशल योग्यता ढाँचे (एनएसक्यूएफ) में भी महत्वपूर्ण योगदान दिया। उन्होंने विदेशी विश्वविद्यालयों के साथ कार्मिक और संस्थान-स्तरीय अनुसंधान सहयोग को भी बढ़ावा दिया और इस संबंध में उन्होंने कुछ देशों का दौरा भी किया। पिछले 4 वर्षों में, एनआईटी कुरुक्षेत्र में 8 स्नातक, 5 एकीकृत स्नातक एवं स्नातकोत्तर, और 4 एमएससी कार्यक्रमों के जुड़ने से परिवर्तनकारी बदलाव देखने को मिले हैं।

प्रो. रेड्डी ने IEEE लेटर्स, एडहॉक नेटवर्क्स, एल्सेवियर, वायरलेस पर्सनल कम्युनिकेशन, स्प्रिंगर, इंटरनेशनल जर्नल ऑफ इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स, टेलर एंड फ्रांसिस, IETE जर्नल ऑफ रिसर्च सहित कई अंतरराष्ट्रीय पत्रिकाओं के समीक्षक के रूप में कार्य किया है। उन्होंने सम्मेलन अध्यक्ष और सह-अध्यक्ष के रूप में कई अंतरराष्ट्रीय सम्मेलनों का आयोजन किया है और वायरलेस संचार एवं नेटवर्किंग के क्षेत्र में कई प्रतिष्ठित अंतरराष्ट्रीय सम्मेलनों की कार्यक्रम समिति के सदस्य के रूप में कार्य किया है।

वे वर्तमान में राष्ट्रीय कौशल योग्यता ढाँचे (NSQF), NCrF, NHEQF और NVEQF के अनुरूप शैक्षिक सुधारों और मूल्य-आधारित शिक्षा में सक्रिय रूप से भाग ले रहे हैं और देश में व्यावसायिक शिक्षा में योगदान दे रहे हैं। वे अगली पीढ़ी के बच्चों के समग्र विकास और वृद्धि में दृढ़ विश्वास रखते हैं। प्रो. रेड्डी कौशल विकास, परीक्षा सुधार, छात्र कल्याण, अनुसंधान के स्तर को ऊँचा उठाने और तकनीकी शिक्षा में नवाचारों में गहरी रुचि रखते हैं।

इसके अलावा, वह IETE, IE, ISTE के फेलो और IEEE, CSI और SEMCEI जैसी अन्य व्यावसायिक संस्थाओं के सदस्य भी हैं। वह AICTE, UGC, NAAC, TEQIP और NIC द्वारा गठित विभिन्न समितियों के सक्रिय सदस्य हैं।

एनआईटी कुरुक्षेत्र के लिए उनका दृष्टिकोण (विज़न): एनआईटी कुरुक्षेत्र में एनईपी-2020 को पूर्णतः लागू करना; पाठ्यक्रम को परिणाम-आधारित शिक्षा मॉडल से मूल्य-आधारित शिक्षा मॉडल में बदलना; शिक्षा में बदलाव के लिए एनईपी-2020 को लागू करना है ।
