The NCC is a vibrant youth organization, which has made a commendable contribution in producing responsible and patriotic citizens. From a small beginning, today it has grown to the largest youth organization. NCC motivates and trains upcoming generations to render their meaningful contribution towards national integration and development.

The Senate of the Institute in its 10th meeting held on 29-11-2007 approved NCC as an alternate course to Physical Education and Sports for the students of B.Tech Ist year with effect from session 2008-09. From the session 2018-19, the course code is integrated with Sports and Physical education. In current scheme, the course is of one credit in 1st semester (Course code: SWIR-11) and another NCC course is an audit course in 2nd semester (Course code: SWIR-12). The allotted strength of NCC cadets in the institute is one platoon (54), which includes cadets from NCC 2nd year and NCC 3rd year. It is voluntary to join NCC in first year, but once joined, the cadet will have to complete NCC courses as mentioned.

Training is imparted on every Wednesday and Thursday after class hours or in the morning before 8 AM by regular army officers from 10HR Bn NCC Kurukshetra, cadets get refreshments funded by NCC.

In the month of February, the Indian Army conducts certificate examinations for 2nd year and 3rd year NCC cadets.

NCC Camps

It is compulsory for the cadets to undergo at least two training camps of NCC, each of about 10 days duration, in 2nd year and 3rd year. Aim of NCC camp is to expose the cadets to regimental way of life along with physical and mental hardship for the overall development of their personality. Regular Army officers organize the different type of NCC camps.

Eligibility for certificate Examinations

Eligibility to appear in the ‘B’ certificate examination is that

  1. the cadet must have attended at least 75% of total parades held in the first year in the Institute.
  2. the cadet must have attended at least 75% of total parades held in the second year.
  3. the cadet must have attended one NCC training camp in 2nd year.

Eligibility to appear in the ‘C’ certificate examination is that

  1. the cadet should have passed ‘B’ certificate examination
  2. the cadet should have attended at least 75% of total parades held in the 3rd year.
  3. the cadet must have attended one NCC Annual Training Camp (ATC) in 3rd year.

Three years training of NCC in the institute and camp exposure enables cadets to obtain ‘B’ and ‘C’ certificates of NCC after qualifying the respective examinations, conducted by NCC Directorate. These certificates are of immense value for the the students in moulding their future career.

Financial Assistance

NCC also offers financial assistance to meritorious and needy students in the form of scholarships awarded by the DG NCC and other organizations.

Induction of NCC is carried out in the first week of the academic year in the sports ground. The total number of seats available for first year is only 18 (out of that minimum 33% are reserved for girl students). Induction is based on physical fitness, psychology and general aptitude.
