Young Minds Take Flight Towards Real Engineering
Kurukshetra, 5 October 2026: NIT Kurukshetra today marked the opening of SKYFORGE 3.0 with an inaugural ceremony attended by students, faculty and distinguished guests, including Honourable Director, Dr. Brahmjit Singh.
The event began at 5:00 PM with students gathering at Jubilee Hall. The Chief Guest, Dr. Brahmjit Singh, Director NIT Kurukshetra, arrived at 5:40 PM along with other dignitaries and was welcomed by the organizing team.
The formal proceedings opened with the traditional lamp lighting at 5:45 PM, symbolising the start of the event and the pursuit of knowledge and innovation. A welcome address followed, introducing SKYFORGE 3.0 to the gathering and acknowledging the guests present.
Prof. Lillie Dewan, Chief Investigator and Dean of Student Welfare, addressed the audience first. She appreciated the students for taking keen interest in application of engineering concepts. Further, she encouraged the students to deep dive into the world of UAVs and drone technology.
Prof. Brahmjit Singh, Hon’ble Director of NIT Kurukshetra, then addressed the gathering. He enlightened the students about the vision of this institute to produce problem solving engineers. He encouraged the students to carry this competitive spirit forward and work towards the betterment of our country. Moreover, he appreciated the efforts of the organizing team and concerned authorities for smooth proceedings throughout the inauguration.
The ceremony concluded at 6:15 PM with a vote of thanks by Prof. Ravi Pratap Singh, Faculty In-Charge, Aeromodelling Club presented the vote of thanks. He cherished the enthusiasm of more than half of 2026 batch in this workshop. He also mentioned the legacy of Aeromodelling Club as one of the most prestigious technical clubs and treasured the hard work of its members.
This was followed by a preliminary test for shortlisting of candidates which witnessed participation of 700 participants, out of total batch of 1150 students.
SKYFORGE 3.0, the third edition of the event, aims to provide students a taste of real engineering. The aeromodelling club would focus on providing just that through the medium of UAVs and drone technologies. Following the shortlisting, students would be registered and the teachings would proceed from 6th October, 2026 and would continue till 14th October, 2026. This entire workshop includes not only theoretical knowledge but also hands-on experience as well.
