Biomimetic chemistry, study of formation of metal complexes, synthesis and study of metal complexes, supramolecular compounds and molecular modeling
Research Activities:
Bbagged two research projects
, Developed a synthetic chemistry, solution chemistry and molecular modeling laboratory, Modern equipment like Diode-array spectrophotometer, pH and Ion meter have been acquired, Four research students are engaged in research in diverse field.
Preliminary research findings are presented in seminars and conferences. Some recent works have been published in international journals.
Future Plan:
Continue to work in the biomimetic chemistry, in-silico modeling and extend my work for synthesis of nano-particles specially the water-soluble quantum dots with specific application. Introduce new course on molecular electronics and establish an advanced research laboratory with modern equipment

Research Collaborations : Collaboration is done with the chemistry department of Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering &Technology, Punjab. One of the research students has developed a fluoro-nanosensor with collaboration with SLIET. Facilities like FTIR, fluorescence spectrophotometer, Palmsensors etc. are used for research.

“Spectriscopic,potentiometric and theoretical studies on the binding properties of two novel imino-phenolate ligands towards trivalent iron and chromium” was awarded as Dr. K C Kalia Award for Best Paper in Coordination Chemistry in 3rd National Seminar on recent advances in Chemical Sciences held at Multani Lal Modi College, Patiala on 28th February -1st March 2011.
“In-silico Studies of Some Hydroxamate based Biomimetic Siderophore Analogs” was awarded as Best Poster in National Symposium on recent advances in analytical sciences held at Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla on 12-14th April 2010.
